Heat is a natural by-product of the production, transmittance and use
of electricity. When electrical components begin to fail or are improperly installed,
excessive heat is generated. Thermography has the ability to locate areas of excessive
electrical heat.
- Failing components (i.e. breakers, switchgear, motors).
- Loose or improper connections.
- Overloaded circuits.
- Imbalanced electrical loads.
- Thermographic inspection of the electrical components under normal
load and operating conditions as directed by facilities personnel. Either a qualified
electrician is provided by the client to provide access to the equipment or one is
provided through Construction Imaging Services Inc.
- Provide follow up report documentation including visible light
images, thermograms, description of conditions found and recommendations based on
conditions found.
- Allows for early detection of potentially dangerous electrical conditions
so that corrective action can be taken prior to failure and the possibility of
personal injury.
- Allows for inspection of components during normal operating conditions,
eliminating the need for equipment or facility shutdown.
- Allows manufacturing businesses to plan and schedule electrical component
replacement to avoid unexpected failures and downtime losses.
- Can be used for Quality Assurance purposes after new construction activity
to know if any improper conditions exist. This is a useful tool for
engineers…many specify inspection to be made prior to releasing final
payment to the contractor providing peace of mind for themselves and more
importantly, their clients.
Most commercial insurance carriers are requesting that their
clients inspect their electrical systems annually to prevent loss and downtime.
In short, infrared electrical inspections can be an effective tool
for engineers, building owners, facilities engineers, and property managers in gaining
the maximum lifespan out of their electrical equipment and in protecting the building
occupants, contents and construction from potentially dangerous conditions.
Please contact us with your building or facilities information
so we may work up a proposal for infrared electrical inspections.
