A parts manufacturer contacted us to help them investigate
inconsistencies in their powder coating finishing process results. What we
found is the following:
- We were able to compare the temperature of the parts as they entered the
drying oven to the temperature as they exited the oven for baseline data.
- We were able to compare the temperature from the top to the bottom of
the pieces as they exited the oven and found that there was a substantial
temperature difference across the piece.
- We also found numerous points of energy loss in the oven enclosure.
All of this information was obtained during normal operation of
the equipment and the plant as a whole resulting in no downtime associated with
this investigation.
The manufacturer was able to use this data along with other plant
operation analysis to make adjustments in their systems to correct the finish
inconsistencies that they were experiencing, thereby improving their product
quality and company profitability.
